2018 AQHA Red Roan Gelding

16.2–16.3hh. Big, pretty, and gentle, this red roan gelding is bred to work and built to last. With Sun Frost and Streakin Six on the top side, he has the size, pedigree, and presence to stand out anywhere. He’s no deadhead — he can cover country and long trot all day, making him a great mount for big circles. Cheeks has been used in all aspects of ranch work: roping both ends in the branding pen, sorting, shipping, turning out, and gathering. He was also started in the arena as a colt on both ends in team roping, and last year was exposed to picking up saddle bronc practice. Handy to pony colts or the grandkids, he’s the kind that’s always ready to step up for a job. Gentle by nature, Cheeks loves people and attention, and he’s good for the farrier. He does have a small scar on his right ear and can be sensitive when bridling; with a little patience or by unbuckling the headstall, it’s easily managed. Earlier this spring he had a full vet check — light arthritis in his hocks was addressed with injections, and his shoeing angles were corrected. He now stays on a 4-week schedule and wears a size 1 all the way around. A versatile gelding with the foundation, look, and size to go any direction — from ranch to arena to family use.
