2014 AQHA Bay Gelding x Famoso Starlight x Wranglers Starlight out of Dualano x Doc O Wena
Barstool aka Docs Dualn Lena is a 10 year old gelding by our stallion, Famoso Starlight – LTE ~$85k+, an NRCHA snaffle bit futurity champion and open fence work champion as well as a finalist at the AQHA world show and at every other major Cowhorse event. He also has an ROM in cutting and money earned NCHA, ranch rodeo, and both ends team roping. His dam had over $35k in NCHA earnings won in the hard way in the non-pro. These figures are of course back when that was a lot of money, lol. Barstool himself has won several buckles and other awards and would be a fantastic horse for the non-pro Cowhorse, ranch versatility pen, ranch cutting, sorting/penning, or pretty much whatever else you can think of. He’s also perfect for someone who just wants a really nice, safe general riding horse and would be suitable for a handy youth. He’s gentle and kind, and can sit for periods of time without blowing up. He has all the fancy buttons from a huge stop, fast turn around and smooth lead changes too… body control from head to tail and toe. He’s dynamic on a cow and has a ton of read and cow sense like his sire. He absolutely loves working cattle – that’s probably his favorite thing to do. He will ride in literally anything on you put on his head, be it a hackamore, war-bridle, snaffle, broken mouth bit, straight up in a spade, halter, baling twine… he’s broke. He’s also been ridden outside in rough country. He’s swam in the lake and used as a diving board. He’s been branded, doctored, and sorted on; he’s even been on the cover of a magazine! Barstool is the perfect blend of quick-footed yet gentle-natured. He is a fella who is more on the sensitive side who prefers a soft hand and does not want to be in trouble, but he’s not spooky, hot or over-reactive. No buck, rear or bolt. He will go where he’s pointed and try about anything you ask. He’s a bit more of what some would call a “ladies horse” in that he loves to be pet, brushed, bathed and loved on. He is his most confident and relaxed when he trusts you and you’re his pal. This is not some trader horse. We personally bred, raised and trained Barstool. We know his history since day one and he’s been in professional horsemen’s hands since birth. He has only had one other owner who is a friend of ours and a professional horseman as well. She bought him as a 4 year-old and did some great work with him in his formative years and exposed him well to a variety of environments from the show pen to long days of giving lesson. She won awards in multiple disciplines on him and also sent him back to us for tune-ups once a year. We purchased Barstool back at 7 after she had some life changes and he’s been with us consistently in training ever since. This has been my wife’s go-to horse for the last 3 years and he takes good care of her. He’s always been correctly shod and has never been over-ridden or neglected on his care. He’s sound and has very good feet and legs. We have recent x-rays and he has clean naviculars and needs no special maintenance, beyond the normal care we give every horse here. He’s easy to shoe and stands nicely to be shod, bathed or clipped. He’s hobble broke and does not pull back when tied. I have used him to flag and work with unbroke colts and he handles new situations well. He loads and doesn’t kick in the trailer. He is not a problem-starter with other horses in the barn, even at feeding time. He doesn’t crib and he’s also not a destructive horse that tears up everything. He doesn’t rip up his fly sheet, rub his mane out, chew hoses or kick the fence. I mention these because they are things that really annoy us lol. This horse is available solely because we are making some changes to the business to allow us to have more time and freedom to travel to do more clinics, so having less of our own horses only makes sense to that goal. He is ~ 15hh and 1100lbs. We offer up to 150 miles delivery for free, and are happy to help arrange transport or deliver personally to further distances for an additional fee. We will board him at no charge for up to two weeks while transport is arranged.
