2019 Grade Chestnut Mustang Gelding
Sarah Halverson
Weatherford, TX
Chester is a 14.3hh, BLM-branded mustang that was gathered from the Sand Wash Basin in Colorado in 2021. Since then, he’s blossomed into not only one of the kindest souls you’ll meet but an all-around favorite in and out of the saddle. From ranch rodeos to ranch versatility shows to family rides and more, Chester has proven his heart and try in every setting. In the arena, he’s responsive, soft, comfortable in all gaits, and tuned in to his rider. He’ll travel out at any speed you want, side passes each direction, can do flying lead changes both directions, and will lope around bridleless if you’re feeling bold. Chester has already impressed multiple judges across ranch horse classes with his natural cadence and presence, showing real promise as a contender in the arena — not only in the ranch rodeos he’s competed at but in ranch versatility as well, where he’s placed in the top three in several classes. Chester is also started on both ends in the roping pen and has shown the potential to be a consistent pay window visitor. Outside, he’s a trustworthy partner who’s been used to gather, sort, brand, and doctor cattle in every kind of country. He travels anywhere you point him — through creeks, brush, or down busy roads — will patiently ground tie anywhere, and is a true gentleman while waiting for you to get on. Gentle, personable, and full of character, Chester is just as enjoyable on the ground as he is under saddle. He’s easy to catch, haul, shoe, and be around in every way. Chester has been a joy to have in our program, and we’re confident he’ll be a favorite in yours too.
